Hey guys. First post and to be a new first time Volvo owner. I know this is P8 thread but I have a 2021 T5 recharge hybrid plugin that I got a Volvo notification that it is being held in New Brunswick for same software problem. Not just a P8 problem?

Also a first time Volvo and first time ev owner. I test drove a xc40 recharge on Friday and bought it on the spot. Seemed so much nicer than the comparable tesla or Hyundai. I was in a different dealer the day before but that had no cars to show. They would order one with a 2-3 month delivery. This dealer had one in stock which I bought. Will be picking it up on Thursday. Reading about all the delays I was very surprised. I'll post again when(if) I get the car.

First EV for me, but long time Volvo owner (2004 XC90, 2010 XC90, 2012 XC60, 2013 XC90), also my first post. I received this email today: I am pleased to inform you that your Recharge has arrived at Port Hueneme (CA). However, at this time, delivery of the XC40 Recharge will be delayed due to a software issue with the vehicles. We are awaiting word from Volvo Sweden on final updates for the cars in the ports. We will inform you once we have more information. I was hoping to have it by the end of March, but now I'm not so sure reading how long others have been waiting. I just can't wait to drive it!

DeDeB, where are you located? I'm in California, too, in the Bay Area. I assume the email was from your dealer, not Volvo customer relations. I have not received confirmation that my car is in Port Hueneme, but I know the ship it was on docked there a week or so ago. I own a 2011 Leaf, so I'm not new to EVs and I owned a 1999 Volvo C70 sports coupe years ago and loved that.

I am on the Central Coast...San Luis Obispo and the email was from Volvo not my dealer. It only docked yesterday and I received the email today about the delay. Here is how it was signed:

Med vänliga hälsningar!

Well, no surprise. I got a call this morning from the dealer saying he got an email from Volvo explaining the recall and saying I would not be getting my car tomorrow. So I'm waiting like everyone else even though my car is at the dealership.

It's very annoying that they have the ability to do the updates at the dealer, but they are holding the cars at the port. That means that even after the update comes through, there will be an additional delay as they transport them from the port to the dealer. I guess maybe the dealerships don't want them sitting on their lot taking up space.

Our Volvo dealer here in Ontario, Canada, just sold us their first-ever BEV, an XC40 P8, following a great test drive in their demo unit. He's been pleasantly forthcoming and communicative regarding ETA:
1. According to the dealer, the car landed in Canada at the port of Halifax late February. It is awaiting software related updates amongst a large rollout project, which will be done right there at the port (whether OTA or onboard he did not know).
2. He advised us to expect delivery of the car by the end of March or early April.
3. I entered the car's VIN thru the NHTSA recalls database (which also applies to all new cars sold in Canada) - it indicated there are no outstanding recalls for the car.

Looks like Volvo supplied updated information to NHTSA. My VIN was triggering this recall earlier this week but now isn't so hope they have fixed the cars in port.
Has anybody actually taken delivery yet post-recall? I saw on a Reddit thread somebody's local dealership has in-stock listings with photos, but I suspect that might still be the demo models that they aren't actually selling. My closest dealer did that to get more interest.

Once someone gets theirs, the rest should be soon after.

I found a dealer who sold me an in stock vehicle that was a demo vehicle. It does not have the software update but everything works except for the app integration and Sirius radio. I accepted the vehicle with the understanding that the software installation was OTA and the dealer stood by the warranty.

I have had the car for one week and no issues.

No other dealer is selling the demos as they don't have any other vehicles to show.

My deal went through without a hitch and Volvo registered the VIN on their web site.

It shows no updates available at present. No VIN recalls.

Ditto but it wasn't a demo. They still have that car.

That's good to know, thank you. But before we get our hopes up too much that deliveries are just around the corner, it's important to bear in mind that Volvo cars waiting at various ports are subject to more than just NHTSA mandated recalls. In addition, Volvo's policy is that when an issue is identified internally with any product (such as VOC) consistent with Volvo's safety or quality standards, then Volvo's goal is to correct that issue in the "eligible" cars ASAP. And the most economical and expeditious way for the company to accomplish that goal is to take corrective action directly at port before release to dealers, particularly if it's an OTA type remedy.

Having said that, I do believe that there is genuine reason for optimism at this stage. The fact that the big Battery Management System related recall is already well along to being corrected (under the NHTSA recalls category), the remaining non-legal but still to-do items are now being addressed too!

I so wish you are right! I am tired of waiting - it has been exactly a month since it arrived at the Port of Tacoma, WA, and still no official word from Sweden/Volvo USA.

Just got this note below from Corporate Concierge:

I just got out of a meeting with my management team, and I am very happy to report that the XC40 Recharges being held at the port have been scheduled to be released by late March, and delivery is expected to be around the end of March or early April. Your dealer will contact you when the vehicle has been delivered to them so they may schedule delivery to you.

Thank you for your patience with this matter. We wanted to make sure we are delivering a product that meets our quality and safety standards.

I was told the same information over the weekend. I do wonder what "Late March" means though.

Working in software (and being customer facing) I joke internally always that a product management "Late March" is 31 March always!
Same as Q4 is end of December :ROFLMAO:

I assume given the amount of vehicles, they will start clearing them from the various ports and have to arrange transport. At least it is already the 16th.
Movement and progress though the Volvo On Call app (iOS) still can't pair with the car yet.

Yeah I also work in software so I have the same feeling. But because they have so many units to move, I was wondering if maybe they have already started releasing them, but they are just being careful cause they dont know exactly how long it will take to get to each customer.
