Is that the Volvo brand hitch?

Thanks for the link, I appreciate it. All this info is great for future bike rack users.

I bought a Lightbar with the flat 4-pin jack. I hope that works the same way. If not, I'll get your adapter.

someone else used those same curt lights and they worked just fine. if not, the adapter i posted is your ticket. it has resistance built into the unit in case led lights don't pull enough to let the car know something is attached. but, i think you'll be fine with the lights you got.

what rack are you sporting?

So am I missing something. I have a bike rack and just turn off RAB and sensors on the screen. What is the advantage here?
A lot of people forget to turn off the sensors and get a sudden shock when then car stops. The advantage is you don't have to turn off the sensors, they just turn themselves off if you have a plug in the hitch jack.

exactly, that jolt from the sudden stop will wake you up! its easier to go through the motions (for me) with the steering wheel buttons rather than press buttons on the IHU etc. just a personal preference. i do miss the BLIS though.

So, if I am understanding all of this in the above thread, all I have to do with my 2020 Volvo XC40 (ICE and not EV model) is turn off all BLIS and Parking Assist functions when I place my bike rack on my Volvo and then I don't have to worry about the brakes suddenly coming on when the vehicle senses the bike rack? I am not getting the original Volvo hitch and don't need the trailer part. I will not be towing. I am getting the Stealth Hitches bike rack:

and will be using a 1Up bike 2" Super Duty Double bike rack. So, I will have no electrical back-up light thing to plug in. I don't need Park Assist to park. So, I don't feel that is a loss. Plus, I will not have the bike rack on all the time. Most of the time, I want the Volvo to just be the Volvo. Then every now and then I will want to put my two bikes (a Lectric XP 2.0 and a Lectric 2.0 Step-thru). Each bike weighs 64 pounds.

We have a 2022 XC40 Recharge, had a hitch put on by UHaul, no electrical wiring, and use the hitch to put on a bike rack for a pair of electric bikes.

You are correct, all you need to do whenever you're backing up with the hitch/bikes on is to disable the Auto Rear Braking and the Beeper/Sensors using the touchscreen. It doesn't save the settings, so next time you're backing up you'll have to disable again.

Decided to share my bike rack as well.
I installed a 3-bike hitch rack to carry bikes My, my wife's and my son's kids' bike. I like how it looks.

Which rack do you have? I have 2 like this design and can't get either to latch into the crevasses between the trunk and the body of the vehicle because the latches are too big for the gaps in the XC40, even though I've used this style rack on at least 4 other makes of cars without issue! Thanks
