Is anyone aware of any technical bulletins on the issue similar to the one for the steering wheel vibration at high speeds? I have a service appointment scheduled for both of these issues tomorrow and would like to provide any relevant bulletins to them. Thanks.

I don’t know of any but I have noticed with each OTA update it seems to get better. My vibration is now intermittent.

My dealer says that they found a bulletin which called for replacing all of the backseat interior lights to fix the buzzing issue. Has anyone heard of this? They are waiting on the parts, so we don’t know yet whether it works or not.
You're the first. Let us know.

The problem with this issue is the wide disparity beetween real and imagined causes and similarly unlikely proposed remedies. I have not obthered to slog through this entire thread for several weeks but, IIRC, there are three reported sources, each with a different cause or possible remedy: power supply leakage into the sound system, faulty lighting units, and software. Hardware that leaks alternating current buzz into the audio system cannot be fixed with software so, in that case, the buzz has a non-physical origin. We also have reports that suggest the buzz is not coming from the sound system but emanating from the lighting unit itself. that's a defective hardware subassembly. Also possible is a defective audio amplifier. No one seems to have a good theory that covers all the anecdotes.

That's right, I have a three-day subscription to Volvo's tech site and I see there is a Technical Journal article about this issue in the C40 and XC40 (see attached), TJ 36534.3.0, issued 2023-04-14, updated 2023-04-23, titled "Decor lighting, buzzing noise". It says that if the customer complains, replace all five backlit (I assume that's what you meant rather than backseat) trim panels with new part numbers, and illustrates the process.

Occasionally I notice the noise in my C40, but to me it's not obtrusive enough that I'd complain or bother going through the hassle of replacement

@DisneyDad611 curious if you heard anything from your dealer?
So I’m not sure if it’s fixed or not. They were instructed by Volvo to disconnect each of the backlit lights one by one to see if the problem was coming from any particular light. They did this and found that there was one light that when unplugged, the noise went away. I haven’t heard what the next step is, but it sounds hopeful that they are narrowing down the source of the issue.
My bigger concern at the moment is the steering wheel vibration at 62mph. The latest on that is they are going to replace the front axles and are just waiting for the parts to come in.

With the 2.9 I did notice that I can now turn down the interior lighting without buzz but still have to have the intensity on high otherwise the buzz comes back. But it is an improvement, so I think maybe Volvo is slowly making adjustments that are helping..
Same. Really that’s pretty acceptable since there’s only one setting that buzzes at this point (“low intensity”)

don’t really drive enough at night to know if high intensity is distracting

I tested this last night, and I still get the buzzing on both high and low. When sitting in the car and the lights are on full you can't hear anything, but as soon as you put it in gear and everything dims... bbbbbzbzzzzzZZZZZZ

It's still there lol (although the wife can't hear it but her hearing isn't as good as mine)

It's gone for me, but the button needs to be on high, and the slider on max; if not, bbbzzz...

Got the new xc40 along with the buzzing sound (when the inner lights are on), taking it back to the dealership this week, if they can’t fix it, i will have to return it and replace because the sound gives me a headache and nausea and that interferers with my ability to work. Did anyone had to replace the car due to this defect or it is fixable?

Did you try setting the slider/dial to max and select "high"? That cured it for me after the last software update.
