Electric buzzing sound when interior lighting is ON

And same here, hissing noise goes away the instant the dome lights is turned on..

I remember the referenced thread and am pretty sure it had to do with the dimmed light setting overhead. Somehow that was creating an electrical buzz that may have then been amplified through the speakers. When the overhead light goes off (daylight) or if you turn them all the way on the buzzing goes away. But unfortunately I’m not sure there is a setting that allows us to turn off the dimmed setting.
The buzz also goes away instantly if I turn off the topography back lighting. It doesn't sound to me like it's coming from the speakers at all though.

Playing around with this, I noticed that even with the dome lights on, if I set set topography light to "low" the buzzing returns - click it back to high and it's silent. Sure sounds like a dimmer component issue to me 🤔

It's not worse to my ears, if anything slightly better but still horrendously annoying 😕

Even on "high" the LEDs are not outputting more than maybe 50%, based on how they can flare up when you open the door - and the instant they're undimmed that way the buzzing goes away.

I had my mechanic/technician listen to it last week and he lodged a complaint with Volvo. Although they're obviously aware of it 🤷🏼‍♂️

I'd say it's definitely a dimmer issue, and has nothing to do with speakers. When you open the door in the dark and the panels go to full power / zero dimming, the buzz goes away instantly.

I can live with it for the time being since I'm always listening to music and that drowns it out. But it doesn't seem like it would be a hard fix, but probably not cheap for Volvo, depending on how much you have to disassemble to get to the dimmer unit(s) 🤷🏼‍♂️ They could fix it in software by running them on full power all the time, but it's way too bright - I'd have to turn them off at night 😕

When you open the door the lights come on on full power with no dimming, and in that mode there is no buzzing. But it shouldn't respond to changing the intensity at that point, so that's weird 🤔

It's completely gone on "high" for me with 2.7. If I switch between "off" and "high" the buzz is there for half a second, and then disappears. The intensity slider doesn't affect the buzzing for me either way. Tested at night with headlights on and off, still gone. Happy camper 🙂

I'm going to have to correct myself - the slider actually does affect the buzz, but I had to turn the HVAC fan completely off to hear it; when the slider is not all the way to the right there's a slight buzz, while it's completely silent when it is. If I try to use the buttons to switch from HIGH to LOW the buzz is horrendous. Luckily for me I like them on HIGH and I don't mind the other lights being on full, but I think this is probably the best they can do with just software updates.

It's still there lol (although the wife can't hear it but her hearing isn't as good as mine)
It's gone for me, but the button needs to be on high, and the slider on max; if not, bbbzzz...

Got the new xc40 along with the buzzing sound (when the inner lights are on), taking it back to the dealership this week, if they can’t fix it, i will have to return it and replace because the sound gives me a headache and nausea and that interferers with my ability to work. Did anyone had to replace the car due to this defect or it is fixable?
Did you try setting the slider/dial to max and select "high"? That cured it for me after the last software update.
