Keep getting this error lately mostly when I’m uphill or downhill. Anyone else experience this message ?
What does "pull a service code" mean. My C40 has been in the shop for 2 weeks now with same issue!!! I'm beyond frustrated.Update: They did not find any leaks in the coolant system, and they were able to pull a service code (VCU1-P2BE07B Coolant Level Circuit). They topped off the coolant since it was slightly under the fill line, and they believe that there may have just been air in the line. it's interesting because that is exactly what others have reported above.
Also i wanted to clarify my frustration comment, as i want to be fair and accurate. Since i purchased the car in August of 2021, I've had it in the shop 6 times for issues (not maintenance). With the exception of the 12+ day onboard charger issue which was painful to work with the local Volvo Service department, i feel they've since bent over backwards to move my scheduled visits up and get me into some type of loaner car for almost all of these visits. My issue is the reliability of (at least my) Volvo. I walked away from Tesla even though it had better range, charging, and charging network because of quality issues hoping Volvo would be better, and have just been dissatisfied. I was really hoping for better considering the car costs ~$60,000.
Car Purchased in August of 2021:
1st Service visit: October 2021 for LTE Motem/TCAM issues and charging issues (was unable to change input amperage and when plugged in, would not pull charge. Resulted in doing a total software upgrade, and replacement of the onboard charger
2nd Service visit: December 2021 for Antenna cover service campaign and tire replacement (Since this technically included a warranty item, i left it under this bucket)
3rd Service Visit: May 2022 for Accelerator Pedal Recall (parts on backorder), more TCAM issues. Resolution was a total software upgrade
4th Service Visit: September 2022 for Brake Light Malfuction message. Resolution was inconclusive. They found one DTC message but couldn't duplicate. no action taken other than asking me to monitor it.
5th Service Visit: October 2022 for Collision Avoidance Fault Message: Resolution was they found a VIDA fault code and reloaded the ASDM software.
6th Service Visit: November 2022 for Coolant System Malfunction: Resolution as stated above.
Not counted in my numbers since i view these as standard maintenance.
August 2021: Hitch/Roof Rack installed. tire plugged
August2022: 20,000 mile service and Accelerator Pedal Recall (parts came in) and software upgrade
You could check the coolant level yourself, but you'll have to take apart some of the plastic pieces surrounding the frunk. It's going to be a hassle either way. You can probably ignore it for a little while, but you'll need to get to the dealer to fix it eventually.I've been seeing this error constantly on my XC40 Recharge, the dealer is a ways away and the car is only 2 months old. Any suggestions? I don't really want to drive all the way down there if it's just a touchy sensor!
I have a Coolant Level/adding coolant question! First, if the coolant system needs servicing, I can see going to the dealer! BUT…if the system just needs topping off, why can’t the owner make a slight modification to occasionally top off themselves? Maybe I am being overly optimistic but if the filler receptacle tube/top is hidden under Frunk plastic, why can’t a hole be cut and trimmed neatly with any additional tubing or top added to make a nice flush finish. Or does this stupidity void the warranty? You could check the coolant level yourself, but you'll have to take apart some of the plastic pieces surrounding the frunk. Adding coolant should be a one-time thing. Sometimes they don't get it quite right at the factory, so after use bubbles can be purged and the level can drop slightly below the sensor threshold. If this is not the case, then there's either a leak or a bad sensor, both of which must be dealt with by the dealer. So yes, technically you could do what you're suggesting, but no, you should not have to as once the level is topped off or the issue is corrected, you should never need to do it again unless there's a serious issue with the car. Edit: note in some EVs there are multiple coolant reservoirs, and depending on the location it may not be as simple as cutting a hole in the plastic of the frunk trim to access the reservoir's cap.I have a Coolant Level/adding coolant question! I really don't know about the warranty, but in theory it shouldn't void anything if you're only making arguably cosmetic modifications. I'd pay decent money if someone were to make an alternative trunk surround kit with pop-open access panels for coolant, battery terminals, etc.I have a Coolant Level/adding coolant question! You can get a very decent view of the coolant reservoir and “MAX” / “MIN” levels by removing the windshield washer fluid cap…I really don't know about the warranty, but in theory it shouldn't void anything if you're only making arguably cosmetic modifications. Great tip - thanks! You can get a very decent view of the coolant reservoir and “MAX” / “MIN” levels by removing the windshield washer fluid cap…
The cap (blue plastic) and flange (black plastic piece the cap hinges on) comes off in one piece. Rotate both a quarter turn counterclockwise and lift up. The coolant reservoir is directly behind the windshield washer fluid fill tube.
At the right angle and light, you can see the coolant level without removing all the covers… of course I found this out after ripping all the covers off today!
Don’t forget to put the windshield washer cap back on!
I did that and when I went in for a software update they tried to tell me my coolant was dirty lol. I topped it off with coolant that was not BRIGHT GREEN like the factory coolant was and they determined it was dirty and needed swapping. How did they diagnose the problem / how long did it need in the shop to find it?FYI, I got this message for the first time on Thanksgiving and it became regular in early January. It turned out I had a "loose AC hose." So apparently this light can actually be a problem.
