Correct. At this time you would need to go to your Volvo dealer to have it installed. Per Volvo, software updates are available OTA within 2-3 weeks after the release date, which is 9/4 in the case of 2.11.

Still no wireless CarPlay though…..

I've talked to my dealer about this. He says that Volvo tested the feature internally but it failed to pass it's Quality Assurance so they shelved the idea.

The only way of making wireless CarPlay/Android Auto possible without a dongle would be a hardware upgrade package offered from Volvo. Now, how likely it's gonna be that Volvo will offer that upgrade and for how much idk. If the second refresh of current cars does happen (and that the refresh gets brand new powerful hardware) we might get the upgrade package.

The degree of phone battery usage? The same battery usage should be across all vehicles which have CarPlay/Android Auto, Volvo included.

You know what would be great? Some stability with backup cameras and reduction of lag. Waiting 1.5sec to navigate between menus is infuriating when you're trying to focus on driving.

Yeah, my backup camera has gotten much worse when first getting into the car. It will start to lag out while reversing and then it's like it briefly restarts (black screen flash for half a second) - but it will do this 4 or 5 times.

I haven't figured out if it's mostly just doing this when a different profile was used on the last drive, or if it's every time.

The same with my car, something that started recently so I will try resetting IHU today and see if that helps since it's been quite awhile since my last reset.

I’ve been having more issues with this and also “camera not available” error after parking in the sun (but not always all that hot). I originally thought it was the camera trying to switch between backup and 360 since I park really close to other objects in my garage but I’ve also noticed the flickering in empty parking lots so maybe it’s down to the latest software

I’ve also been having more random audio problems. One time there was an extremely loud crackling sound after I started the car (similar to a loose wire but it only happened a single time and was max volume). Today, the audio system seemed to have crashed (even turn signals made now sound). IHU reset fixed it but pretty annoying when you are following map directions to post 1-2 min of navigation

Over on the FB, this showed up after one of the volvo owners updated his phone to iOS17:
