I have used the superchargers twice and used the Tesla app. I can't seem to get Volvo to keep my payment information. Since I don't use the superchargers much, I don't have the monthly subscription. You don't have to keep the Tesla monthly subscription to use the app, it just costs a bit more per kW/hr. It charges me $0.43/kWhr. That is still much cheaper than Blink--the one near me charges $0.74/kWhr and a connection charge of over $3.
Oh follow up. I used the Tesla app to specify which charger I am at so it turns it that one on. With 41% charge on my XC40, the supercharger started at 134 kW charging rate and got the vehicle to 90% in 34 minutes. It added 38.35 kW for a cost of $18.02. Typically you stop at 80% because the charging speed slows way down. I was eating lunch so I had the time. Most Tesla chargers are 150 kW unless specified. There are 300 kW chargers out there.

I haven’t gotten my Tesla adapter as yet, word is I’ll get it likely next week hopefully. From my perspective, here is what I plan to follow.

1. I am going to use the Tesla mobile app to supercharge my C40 when I receive the adapter.

2. I am going to repeat step 1 and use my Volvo mobile app to charge.

3. Steps 1 and 2 will both give me full faith and confidence that charging on Tesla’s NACS enabled superchargers work.

4. My goal is to keep both apps and charge, if and when I am out of town (which I am generally not a lot), just in case one process malfunctions. Always have a disaster recovery charging strategy (The Tesla Destination to CCS1 Adapter is a solid keeper).

5. Eventually, in a few months or so, my goal would be to shutoff my monthly Tesla charging plan, and just use the Volvo app for charging as and when I need to use it, if I see a solid success of chargers through the Volvo mobile app.

6. Other DCFC networks still play a key role on my charging strategy so I’ll still heavily rely on EVgo Plug and Charge using GM Pilot Flying J and Electrify America, ChargeHub and ChargePoint apps.
It's extremely seldom that I have to charge outside my home. Once you get more experience, let us know how it goes. I installed the Tesla app a long time ago and haven't used it for charging yet. Before I got my XC40, I did use the Tesla app to test drive a Tesla (no salesperson needed - just use the app).

I just got my adapter and before I use it I have few questions?

1. How do you know which Tesla charger is compatible with my car? or adapter? Which Tesla chargers are available for Volvo XC40 Recharge? How do I know?
2. As instruction says: Hook the adapter to the car then hook Tesla charger to the adapter? Is that the way we should do this?
1. Either the tesla app or the volvo app will only show the ones compatible for your car. In the tesla app, you set up your vehicle as a Volvo EX40 (XC40) or EC40 (C40) depending on what you have then answer yes for having the NACS adapter.

2. Park at a Tesla station and note the number of the station (e.g., 1A, 2B, etc.).
For the Volvo app, open the location map, pick the charger you're at, then click on start charging. Get the cable from the Tesla station, connect your adapter, then connect to the car.
For the Tesla app, it's the reverse: get the cable, attach your adapter, plug it in, and then start the charge on the Tesla app.

Not necessarily. They'll only show up if they exist in the region shown on the map. In my case, Boise, Idaho, the only NAX-enabled V3s aare 160 miles away so I never saw them until I zoomed way out on the map.

True. I have superchargers a few miles from the house but since they are V2, they do not show up. The nearest V3s are about 15 miles away so I have to zoom out to see them.

Awesome! Congrats 🎉. I called up my Volvo dealer a minute ago and they don’t seem to know if there’s got shipped or not. I asked the parts guy to call and give me an update . 🙂
Picked up mine today…I’ll find sometime this weekend and functionally test it. We have three supercharger stations within 30 minutes of my home. 🙂.

Boom! Tesla supercharging testing on my 2022 Volvo C40 successful / (charging via the Tesla mobile app). 🔥🔥. Getting a max of only 60kW, with a max charging speed of 128 miles/hour.

Finally!

You have to have an account profile created for yourself to charge using the Tesla app. However you don’t need to create a monthly charging subscription like I do. You can pay as you go.

I had another opportunity to use my Tesla Supercharger adapter today. I was running errands and put 150 miles on the car. It was around 32°F when I left the house and the car told me I had 83% charge available (instead of 90%). This messed up my calculations as I'd now get home with low single-digits of charge. So, on the way home, I stopped at a set of Superchargers that had been put in fairly recently.

I initiated it through the Tesla app, started at 16% charge, and bumped it up to 41% in ten minutes, more than enough to get home. I was getting around 130kW of charge up to around 30-35% then it started dropping down to around 120kW when I stopped the charge.

So far, I'm 2 for 2 at the Superchargers.

Anyoe watching this or the other tesla adapter threads: Please tell us about your attempts to use the Volvo Cars app to initiate a charging session at a tesla station. I have tried only once but I could NOT tell the Volvo Cars app that I was, in fact, standing in front of a NAX-enabled V3. I had to use the tesla app which handled the transaction flawlessly and easily.

Oh, sorry, I forgot about testing the Volvo app, so I've gone 3 for 3 with the Superchargers. The Volvo app was clunky; the first try failed, but the second try worked, and it was slower to sync with the Supercharger than the Tesla app; I've seen about 10 seconds for the Tesla app to initiate the charge and the Volvo app to take 20-30 seconds. This was at the same Supercharger charger at the same station on different days to try to keep the variability down.

I had the same experience, will continue using the Tesla app for the better experience
