The Ghent factory is pumping out EX30s for the North American market as well as the EX40 and XC40 hybrids. I’ve not heard of no 2025 models. Production for them began in May this year. Maybe ask around one of the dealers in the area - seems odd.

 

Thanks. I knew about the 30 and the hybrids being made but have not seen anything about the full recharge 40's in the media so far.

 

Maybe there will be no 2025 XC40 Recharge, but from everything I've seen there will be a 2025 EX40.

 

Thanks for the reminder about the model name change. The sales manager was adamant that the only full electric models for the US will be the EX90 and EX30.
If you have any sources that you can share about the EC40 and EX40 arriving in the US for MY2025, please do.

 

Took a look at the US site and sure enough, they show no EX40 under pure electric - just an EX30 and 90. The XC40 carries on as a mild hybrid but then under SUVs, the XC40 and C40 are there as Recharges too, in single and twin motor variants. Very strange! Maybe Volvo USA are selling excess inventory before showing the EX40. In Canada and elsewhere, the EX40 is available, but the price has risen a bit.

 

I do see EC40 and EX40 on Canadian website, but nothing on US website other than current model XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge.

 

Given the terrible 2024 sales numbers and poor resell values of used, not surprising.

Volvo need to slice a bit off the price to juice demand.

 

AFAIK there are a bunch of unsold xc40s plus the used ones, weird but not entirely surprising to skip 2025. Hopefully they are going to refresh with NACS, AAOS HW, range improvements.

I turned in my 2022 xc40 recharge lease and bought a maxed out used Ariya for less than the buy out. Hoping for a refreshed ex40 or maybe ex30 in a year or three, crossed fingers.

“We will have a full year of EX30, plus the EX30 Cross Country, which has a different look and feel to it. Cool car. We have the EX90 which we’ve just launched today, a refreshed XC90 hybrid and then, at the very end of the year, ES90.”

MY 2026 EX40s should be shipping from Ghent soon. 2026 ticks over late May. However, the factory is also shipping the EX30, EC30CC and maybe the Polestar 2, although it currently isn’t coming to North America. The only thing is tariffs, so who knows?
