LTE NOT WORKING

My 2023 XC40B4Plus has constant problems with the Internet connection. IT stopped working a few months ago. Initially a number of re sets with screen and windscreen heater got it back. Took back to dealers who failed to find a problem after reboot. Failed again in a few days. The re boots took longer and longer each time it failed. I was told by Warrington Volvo I needed a new SIM card. I got one to fine it was wrong information, my model has a built in system. Waste of money. Next the dashboard completely disappeared - just a blank black screen. Recovered by Volvo who got it working again after two days but couldn't find a reason for the internet dropping out.

A few days after it dropped out again and took lots of re-boots over a few days to get it back. I was next told by Volvo customer service to stop the reboots as something was not right Its due to go to a different dealer on 19 August, delay due to no courtesy car available . I register a complaint and yesterday Volvo rejected it as its a dealer issue. For a month I am not happy with the car and restrict driving since May 2024 it to a couple of miles to my office only as I don't know if the dash display will disappear again or what other function it relies on are not working. Another observation some days it runs very quite and smooth other day the gears changing down are jerking and a flat spot happens on pulling away.

Anyone else experience this? Thanks for letting me post here.

Welcome to the forum, sorry about your connectivity issue. Anone else? Yes. You can search the forum for internet problems. Theories abound, plenty of wild speculation. But no one has posted a solution that I recall. One popular assumption is a problem with the radio system but TCAM replacements do not always solve the problem of dropped connections. Possible server issues or outages with the ISP that is handling Volvo's system locally. That idea doesn't stand up to scrutiny, though.

Did you have an update or something to add to your original post?
Hi

Yes I wanted to add its now fixed. . The was found by a different Volvo dealer I took it to, they soon found the fault. The ethernet connection plug on the wiring harness was damage causing the intermit an failures and eventual complete failure A new wiring harness was fitted and its ok again. The fault must have been there since new

Hi My problem was traced to a damaged Ethernet connection in the wiring loom. This was replaced and it has worked fine ever since. Volvo Preston sorted it where others failed. It must have been from manufacture as it was not accessible with taking half the car apart. Hope this helps.

Your right. It took months to fix. My complaint was the dealer didnt believe. Then told me to buy a new sim card only to find my model does not have an accessible one. Only Preston took it seriously and sorted it. The Motor Ombudsman also believed me and is investigating. Volvo cars also closed my complaint when the system didn’t work.
