How to screen mirror with Android Phone ?

Folks,

Has anyone managed to use their Android phone mirroring their screen ? I have a Samsung Ultra S23 and though I can connect the phone etc, it's super-annoying that there doesn't seem to be full Android Auto support on a Google device.

If someone out there knows of a dongle you can buy to make this work OR there's some special trick to get it working with a cable or settings, I'd much appreciate it.

thanks in advance,

There's no upgrade or setting to enable Android Auto, the car simply doesn't have it even though it does have Apple CarPlay. In the discussion fvc linked to there's mention of Android Auto-to-CarPlay adapters that might work, you'd have to try one yourself.

I've just had my 2016 S90 ungraded by Volvo to work with Android Auto. Be aware, the upgrade can either be Apple Carplay, or Apple Carplay and Androud Auto combined. Weirdly, both are the same price so it's a no-brainer. It's not cheap, but worth doing because you then don't need Volvo's own, clunky, Satnav. It also works using the same speech button in the steering wheel.

Thanks for the suggestion - but this forum is for XC40 RECHARGE (electric) cars. Regardless of how it works for your 2016 gas-powered car, "Android Auto" phone-mirroring is NOT available for XC40 RECHARGE cars. It's unknown (but unlikely) that it ever will be available here, since many of the same Android apps can run natively on the car's Google AAOS operating system (including Google Maps as the car's built-in nav system).

There are devices (like Carlinkit 4.0) which plug in the car's Apple CarPlay plug, and provide an wireless Android Auto interface that your phone will connect to. And then you phone's display will go to the car. Some devices provide pure display mirror. Others provide "app on the car" mode. Carlinkit has a strange ratio which makes circles appear as ovals on my C40. I have a dirt cheap device from AWESAFE (Amazon.fr) which works very well for that - sorry it's the Amazon France link - I'm in france. That will let you mirror your Apple or Android screen nicely.

I'm not sure about a specific dongle, but you might want to check if there's an update for your phone or if there are any settings you can adjust to enable full Android Auto support. Sometimes, it's a matter of tinkering with settings or waiting for software updates to improve compatibility.

Volvo Cars running AAOS (like recent C40 and XC40) absolutely do not support Android Auto. No matter what kind of update you do to your phone... the AAOS Volvos only support Apple CarPlay. You need extra hardware to connect to your car with Android Auto.
