Heating Problem

Hi,
I have been having problems with the heating in my XC40 Recharge ever since I received it a year ago.
At first the passenger seat heating wasn't working, which was the replaced by my dealer. After that, the foot heating driver-side didn't work, resulting in cold feet after lengthy drives. This took 3 trips to the dealer, before they finally acknowledged the problem and swapped out some part. While that is now working, it seems that the heat comes out mainly through the side-vents, with the central vents (especially in the rear) hardly provide any heat at all - dealer claimed that that was normal.
But worst of all, there is a constant blow of cold air coming from an opening on the left side (underneath the steering wheel), where some kind of data cable is positioned and from between the door and driver seat, which means my left thigh is freezing after a while …

Anyone else experience such an issue?

Many thanks,
Robert

I'm sure somebody else mentioned the cold air blowing out underneath the dash somewhere. I believe they stuffed some foam in there, but it sounds like some sort of poorly-sealed grommet or hole in the body that's not properly sealed. Regarding the other issues (heat distribution being uneven in the various vents) that seems like it's an issue with the blend doors/actuators. My parents had a similar problem where heat would not blow out the passenger side vents, and we came to that conclusion. I don't think they were able to get in to the dealer yet to have it fixed.

Here's the older thread about the cold draft issue:

I spent a lot of time figuring out where the cold air is coming from...it's actually in the thread improvius mentioned ..
I placed foam underneath the steering wheel because what happens is that the warm air from the vents flows through the covers underneath the steering wheels and cools down before leaving the cover...the dealer had to acknowledge that this is in fact an issue...
For me it's better now but I'm still not really happy with the situation as I still have the impression that the car is poorly insulated where the hood release is...preheating makes a huge difference I have to say...
There was an another user in the forum who mentioned that the doors were not properly insulated...not sure what the dealer did to solve this problem...
Might be that I have this issue as well but the dealer is not really of help...or doesn't want to help.

If you have an option (distance) you can go to another service department.

I hate my sales department but love my service department.

Hope you have an alternate option.
