that's good to hear. when you say that maintaining the vehicle has been fantastic, does that mean more like maintenance is minimal? I define minimal as tires and alignments, cabin air filter, and brake fluid.
personally, I'm ok with rebooting from time to time, not a huge deal (1/mo, as a daily driven car). but for my wife's purposes, if Bluetooth integration is anywhere near as bad as our BMW i3, i'll have to shop for another car in 6 mo. how has your BT experience been (once you have several phones paired)?
thoughts on steering feel? referencing the BMW i3 again, that car had better steering feel than a rental 5 series (gas), and worse steering feel than our Rav4 EV.
how much does range drop when it's cold out? also regarding the cold - thoughts on charging performance when the battery is cold? how much effort is required to get the pack up to temp to achieve a good charge rate?
does the car actually achieve 150kw charge rates, or is that just marketing?
thank you!
I’ll do my best to reply to your questions.
- maintenance has been a new set of tires.
they don’t rotate them, as sizes are different from front to rear. It handles outstanding on smooth roads. The steering is sporty, and turns on a dime. On rough roads, the low profile tires makes the ride rough. Try to test drive in interstate and a side road, to feel difference.
At Chargers such as EA, EV Go and EV Connect, I get up to 150kw early on in the charging.
When at home, I charge at home and fully charge to 100% every night. At fully charged, I’m right around 220/230 miles at 100%. Winter, if I charge outside, my fully charged is around 180 mile range. If parking inside our heated garage, I’ll get closer to 210. The winter I see around a 14-20% reduction in range.
my connecting to BT is good, my wife and kids connect and it’s good too. I’ve adapted to google platform and really like the Saved/Favorites/Starred, etc. I run Waze in the background for police and other alerts, but primarily use google maps on the control panel.
I do miss adaptive cruise control, as I use cruise control a lot for all my driving.
maintenance has been air filter for 20k. 40k was air filter and brake fluid. Was told 60k was air filter again. I skipped it. I’m taking it in again next week for 80k for air filter and brake fluid. That’s it.
just know it’s like a computer and sometimes needs a reboot. Know Volvo has an on air help, SOS and Chat button. They are usually great and helpful.
if the range and charging was quicker, I’d get another. However, I find myself charging too often and it does take 35-45 min to get from ~20-80%. If your wife doesn’t drive much, and can charge nightly, it’s a great car.
any other questions, pls let me know!
