XC40 Recharge P8. Dog mode.

Any rumors on whether we will be getting a dog mode? This is a feature I would dearly love to have as my 4 legged friend is important to us.

In my old Volvo I used to leave the rear hatch open and dog on a leash inside so she was basically outside. Though this is a solution for the hot weather it is not always a good solution/idea and does not work for cold.

For those wondering what dog mode is it is basically a mode when you are not there but the ac stays on.

This could be added to the AOC but where ever it lives it needs to be 100%

As previously mentioned by me in other threads, we traded in my wife's 2020 Tesla Model Y LR for this XC40 P8 Recharge. In that car you could leave the AC system "on" or in "pet/dog" mode, amongst other features. It also had a cool feature that would prevent cabin going over 100F any time of day, at the risk of draining power obviously. But nice to know and a cool feature to have in the Tesla.

What I have found with the new setup/app is that you can obviously turn on the HVAC system (which appears to default to 72F, no way around that). It works, but it would be nice to have a dash option. Even my prior BEV/PHEV BMW vehicles (and my current 2021 Mini Cooper SE BEV) allow for this when you exit -- "comfort climate" they call it-- and as you turn off the car, a pop. up menu appears allowing you to turn it on right there & then. That'd be how I like it-- "oh you are exiting the car; will you be back soon? want the climate on? ok!" --

PS: Does anyone know of a site/place features like these could be submitted? Sure we could all tell our dealership contacts, but I fear that'd be the dead-end for such ideas.

Mine seems to “default” to whatever temp was last set inside the cabin. I actually got VOC to work briefly yesterday with climate & SoC! Cabin temp was set to 70°, and that’s what the VOC pre-conditioning targeted.

That's my experience as well.
This seems to refer to the parking climate feature on the XC40 recharge... Has anyone got this to work, setting it from the center car display? I was hoping to use this parking climate feature to ensure the car Stays cool with the pup inside.

So far I can set the parking climate timer but it appears to never turn on and there is no control for how to set temperature during park? Any suggestions here?
Thx for the clarification of “prior cabin temp” — i don’t recall where i saw/heard/read the 72F — but clearly based on what you folks have experienced, i stand corrected. Appreciate it!

Actually, I'm not so sure about this any more! I think the "pre-conditioning" feature of the VOC app may really be targeting a generic 72° as you said. The user manual seems to back that up:
During preconditioning of the passenger compartment, the vehicle works to reach a comfortable temperature and not the temperature set in the climate system.
I think what was happening was - as soon as I got back in the vehicle to check the temperature, the climate display immediately switched back to my previously-set inside cabin temperature of 70°. This made me think this was the pre-conditioning target temp.
