I'll be putting the Recharge to the test with a road trip from PA to San Francisco in a few weeks. We'll see how easy or arduous the charging stops will be.
Yeah, should be fun. ABRP has me making 5 charging stops each day of the 5 days of travel with one stop on the final day into SF. I'll use Plugshare if I run into problems with the EA network. Thanks.

Don't have the car yet. I pick it up on Sat at the dealer. Then I'll do some test runs to a few DC fast chargers over the next couple weeks with various states of charge. See how it all works out. No ICE backup to use instead.
Chargehubev is also another good one for checking out a route.
Two things come to mind which you have probably thought of.
1. Do you have a Tesla lvl 2 converter and
2. Make sure that you switch off Tesla super chargers on the planning apps. As Tesla will share cookies but not meals

Received from Volvo: Dear _, we hope you are enjoying your XC40 Recharge. Your new all electric vehicle is compatible with over 80% of all public charging stations nationwide. To ensure a hassle-free charging experience, we have conducted extensive testing with many public charging providers...

Incase your plan uses the questionable fast chargers.
Of course all this begs the question how do you check out whether a physical charger at place x actually works for you …. I guess read reviews of that charging station and try and have back ups.
We can also get a free tow to a charging station. Hopefully that would not be needed.
Good luck
I got my XC40 Recharge P8 today (Fusion Red Metallic). I placed my deposit on Jan 3, 2020 ... whew! ... that was a long wait. But I'm really excited to finally have the car and thankful for this forum and community for sharing information. In particular, thank you @EVrookieSoCal for information about the May lease allowance increase and ChargePoint credits (I am sending you a DM ... thank you!). And thank you @Seattleman for sharing your experiences with local dealerships and helping me navigate lease details. Thank you, @Chris Dauerer for being the voice/representative from Volvo in this forum and giving us all authoritative information and updates. Can't wait to get on the road and enjoy the car!!
This is annoying. I ordered my P8 in December. It's still sitting in the CA port. Meanwhile my dealer suddenly has 12 P8's for sale -- all of them got trucking priority over mine.

I can understand that - one would think they would prioritize retailed units with the software update and make sure they get shipped out first to satisfy customers and give them the best possible experience - need to fix their process!!
I suppose it allows them to sell ones vs ours they are considering already sold ….
Do the ones they have for sale have heat pumps? If not they might of just by passed that upgrade (as they did not need it).
Thanks to your post though I am going to drive down to the dealer on Monday see if they have done the same as mine is still sitting 35 miles away at the port as well.
Good luck. Check other dealers around see if they have your required setup in. If they do buy it from them.

A second Volvo dealer here in Denver has 9 P8's all of a sudden. So that's 21 here, including the 2-3 demos they've had total.
I'm just angry enough I might just go down to that dealer and see what kind of a deal I can get. I didn't get the advanced package on the one I ordered, just the climate package, the roof bars, the heat pump and the sage green color. I don't really care about the color. I much prefer 19 inch wheels, though, and the heat pump seems like a must here in Colorado. My view on the advanced package ($1300) is that if you need a computer to keep you in your lane and at the speed you want, you shouldn't be driving. But I'm an old curmudgeon, been driving 57 years and have never used cruise control. Don't plan to start now.
So I talked to A sales person. Had to put away my Britishness and actually sound pissed off (which is hard).
Was told that the cars are called out from the great car lot in batches. The batches are just groups of cars and not defined by whether they are owned or not . . .
So yes they have 11 brand new P8s with heat pumps and all the things mine have (accept I like 19 inch tires and the wife wanted scarlet color) sitting on their lot but mine is still in the port.
I further asked if they could let me know when mine will be done (vs the normal random vague no clue answer) of course this needs a manager and they will get back to me . . .which has never happened before (that they actually get back to me) but we shall see (the famous definition of insanity …doing the same things expecting different outcomes).
Oh they did try and fob me off with the we only just got the updates speech they always try which goes away when you point out the date they actually got it . . .
It is so sad how much more attentive they are when you sound angry (was soo hard to stay sounding angry, **** my Britishness)

Glad you checked SeattleCat. I spent most of my working life as a newspaper reporter, and fancy I have a pretty good BS detector. That batch answer rings my BS detector. What is the matter with these folks that they haven't figured out all of us are pretty pissed off by now.
A question to all you new owners
How many miles did you car have on it when you got it? I am told mine has 5.
I wonder where the little fella has been driving? Did he have adventures? Heading up to the top deck during the journey every few hours to see the sights ….
Perhaps a romance with another Volvo. Perhaps he followed them to the wrong dealership explains why it went to a sister dealership … oh good my car has a character before I even have it …
Great I am now imagining all the cars randomly moving around the ship playing hide and seek. Having “parties” and enjoying themselves.
Scary thing is … with the present setup they could with the correct software drive them selves around … they can see and sense in 3D.
Congratulations. That's great news. Doesn't say much for the dealer being too swift. But I guess we take what we can get. Maybe it's the good British manners getting a payoff. Enjoy it.
