Ordered my XC40 in Belgium in January 2018, delivery estimated June 2018, now delayed until at least week 46 (autumn 2018). Dealer says lots of delayed orders and explains it results from problems with supplier of 360° camera and lane guidance options. What explanations has anyone else with a delayed order had? Thanks

Welcome to the forum! There have been a bunch of reasons that dealers have indicated for the delays in deliveries, mostly due the sheer amount of demand for the XC40. They have something like 80,000 orders they are trying to work through and some people are being told there is up to a six month wait period.
Glad to see we have someone on the forum from Belgium. That's the great thing about Volvo, the demographics on a forum like this are quite expansive.

How much did you end up paying out the door?
Not sure a number is useful on its own. I got a big contract discount and spec'd up the R-Design T4 (petrol, obviously) to more or less what the launch edition offered for about €48K. The delay is a big disappointment particularly because the dealer was still 'just about to contact me' when I called to ask for details seeing as my original delivery date was approaching. Now we're in a negotiation - he's offered me the XC60 with +/- same spec with a €2.5K supplement (he says that's an additional €7.5K discount on the XC60) but I'm stuck in my brain on the XC40, and the dealer has to do something cos he gave me a trade-in date on my current car for the end of June. In that case there'll be a courtesy car to use free in the meantime. Probably going to go for the second option and wait it out for the XC40 but the Belgian market is a bit weird, especially for resales, and a car registered in December of one year isn't considered any newer than a January registered car from the same year when calculating resale or trade-in value... I've done quite a bit of on-line research and not really found loads about these delivery delays. I did see an e-mail at the dealership talking about a "challenge" with getting parts from suppliers but think this is a major embarrassment to Volvo in getting the Car of the Year on the streets - not seen a single one on the roads in Belgium except for demonstrators so far. I even checked the Swedish press and they only talk about the volume of orders being a success leading to expansion of manufacturing in their Swedish and Chinese factories. Someone has poop on their face with this car launch.

The problem is that they predicted a succes but not this much of succes.
There are more R-Design sales then was anticipated..

My XC40 had a prediction of delivery in mid May.. But now it will be mid September.

There are several problems all due to suppliers.. There where problems (that delayed mine) with Full LED Headlights, headlight washers and tinted windows.
And now it seems it also adds BLISS and lane asssitst and 360 camera.

And what also did not helps is that the XC40 needs to be painted 2x one for the body.. That needs to dry and then the black roof.
So this also causes a delay.

Last thing I heard there where about 5000 build XC40's on the parkinglots with some minor parts missing. So car is ready but missing some parts..
And finally there seems te be a problem getting the car that are ready from the parking lots to the dealers. Not enough capicity to move them.

Hey, there's hope. If 5,000 are sitting somewhere and just need
a small part or two then there is a supply, hope they are the right configuration I ordered:angel
