Just figured I’d record this here for anyone that wants it as reference. I did a longer trip with the utility trailer in a there and back sort of ride, and paid attention to efficiency. The trip was 165 km each way, and almost all of the route is country roads with a speed limit of 80 kph (all paved except last 1 km or so).
Empty trailer, rear ramp folded for efficiency was 22.3 kWh, avg speed of 65 kph.
Full trailer (firewood), efficiency was 24.6 kWh, avg speed of 58 kph. The load was about 3 feet high and 7 feet long. Don’t know the weight of it, unfortunately.
my trailer happens to fit mostly within the shape of the vehicle, so not as bad aerodynamics as i’m sure larger trailers would have.
