Volvo’s Hungarian branch may have published a trailer too soon as XC40 wasn’t due to be revealed until September 21, which is a bit under one week away.
CarScoops noticed the uncut trailer yesterday and it’s still accessible on Youtube for now. Revealing both the interior and exterior styling of the car, we can a lot of the Volvo 40.1 Concept in its design though a few areas were tweaked. Of course there’s the more universal looking side mirrors and normal door handles replaces the hidden-rear door handles.
Inside is sleek and clean with a digital gauge cluster, touchscreen infotainment system, and textured trim on the dash. There also appears to be a wireless smartphone charger.
The trunk is spacious, enough to hold a large blueprint carrier horizontally. Speaking of storage space, Volvo did mention that the speakers were relocated from the doors in order to expand the cubbies and increase functionality. Now the compartments are large enough to hold a laptop or a few bottles of water.
Though we’re still waiting on the XC40 specs, it may be offered with a 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbo gas unit and the four-cylinder Drive-E engine. What we are sure of is the future availability of a hybrid variant thanks to a T5 Twin Engine badge on the rear. Perhaps it’ll be powered by a 3-cylinder engine and electric motor combo.
We’ll have more information once the Volvo XC40 debuts next week.
