Though Volvo Hungary’s XC40 trailer left very little to the imagination, it’s still nice to see official photos of the new compact SUV at its debut in Milan, Italy.

Making the SUV more appealing to younger buyers, Volvo has stuck close to the 40.1 concept’s styling by keeping the Thor's hammer daytime running lights, evolved grille, strong character lines, and a set of large wheels.

Choice is important And carScoops counted up to 17 color combinations for the body and roof along with five internal combustion engines, though shoppers outside of Europe will only get the range-topping T5 version for now. Which is not bad as it’s powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo engine delivering 247hp and it’s come with all-wheel drive. Not bad for a base price of $35,200.

Those in Europe can go for one of three petrol options; T3 156PS (154hp), T4 190PS (187hp), and T5 247PS (244hp). Or for those who like diesel, Volvo is offering you a choice between the D3 150PS (148hp) and D4 190PS (187hp). More powertrain options will be available globally in the future including both hybrid and all electric models.

Of course you can simply pick one up from a dealership, but maybe Volvo’s new subscription service will interest you. Called Care by Volvo, customers can pay a flat monthly fee for their XC40 and the subscription comes with a long list of additional perks including concierge service, maintenance, cleaning, pickup and e-commerce delivery. If an owner finds themselves in need of a larger vehicle for those weekend getaways, the monthly payment covers access to other Volvo models for a few days.

Ordering books are now open and it can be purchased for as little as £27,905 ($37,746) in the UK.

In Europe we get only the T5 AWD Automatic and de D4 AWD Automatic at the introduction.

Next year the others engine types will be offered.

Was hope the the T5 Twin Engine at launch but sadly no.

Those 17 colors are probably what's available globally and not what has already been decided for a specific market. At most I have seen maybe 10 colors for a car in a specific market, never much more than that and who's to say that volvo will be the first? I sure don't think so.
