Volvo has confirmed that will compete in the compact crossover segment within the next four years.
Previously, the Swedish automaker admitted that it was considering a compact crossover model, likely sporting the XC40 nameplate. Now, CEO Hakan Samuelsson has confirmed that the XC40 will launch as part of the revamped Volvo lineup that is being spearheaded by the all-new XC90. Samuelsson has said numerous times that in four years’ time, the all-new XC90 debuting late last year would be the oldest model in the company’s lineup and that means the XC40 will be one of those new additions.
