With the all-new XC40 in its first year of production and initial deliveries already completed (some severely delayed) there's a lot to consider, accessories being one of them especially with Polestars Performance Optimization program via software upgrade. Its just the T5 Drive-E Automatic model that qualifies, with both T5 and D4 for Europe as expected. The software upgrade improves nearly every aspect of the XC40's performance from delivering improved low end torque to better cornering ability, all to rival Germans auto makers that have long dominated many hot crossover segments.

POLESTAR PERFORMANCE OPTIMIZATION​

Polestar engineers have taken a holistic approach to take the driving experience to a new level. No less than five key functions have been optimized to provide faster response, better balance and more intuitive driving. This results in a vehicle that responds quickly and predictably, which is important for those who engage in active driving, whether on the racetrack or on the road.

Faster throttle response
Throttle response has been calibrated to respond more quickly to driver commands - something that gives higher precision and better feel.

Faster gear changes(1)
The automatic transmission changes gears more quickly to both improve acceleration and to better respond to the driver's commands, e.g. downshifts before passing.

Better gear precision and gear hold(1)
The gears have also been calibrated to take advantage of the engine's improved midrange performance. The transmission also avoids changes when cornering at high g-forces (where possible) for better stability.

Faster gear and engine response(1)
The engine and transmission have been calibrated to respond more quickly when the driver releases the accelerator. This makes the vehicle more balanced and predictable, when cornering for example.

Increased engine performance
We have concentrated the power where it is needed most - in the midrange; perfect for passing or when on a busy highway. Combined with faster throttle response and gear changes, this makes the vehicle significantly more dynamic to drive.

Interior & Exterior

Anyone familiar with OEM exterior and interior accessories, shouldn't be surprised by this list that covers most of the basics and then some. For 2018 we get to choose from an exclusive styling kit (front and rear skid plates, door moldings and a roof spoiler), complete summer and winter wheel kits, 11 wheel options ranging in size from 17-21", a hubcap kit and two floor mat styles. Compared to other Volvo products, more accessories could be offered. We hope Volvo follows through especially with the XC40 positioned to meet high sales targets globally.

From the average owner fulfilling basic needs to those supporting specific recreational activities, odds are you'll find it here.
