Hi all,

I've been an extremely pleased owner of my T5 R design for about 3 weeks now but have a question regarding the 'Volvo' dog/luggage gate. Every photo/video I've seen shows it being attached behind the rear seats, but can it be attached behind the front seats as well. If so, is it still be fully functional (e.g. able to fold up to the ceiling and not destroy the sun roof screen?)

Also, does anyone have any suggestions for full bed liner (rear seats down)? My pup is a horrible shedder.

Thanks!
Tony

I have no experience with the Volvo dog gate, but I am sure it will not work as designed behind the front seats. I am sure you can make it work, but not as designed.

As for the floor liner, look at weatherTech, they make good stuff.

I received my Volvo dog gate this week and fitted it yesterday. The 11-page PDF file that details how to do the fitting has a very large warning symbol, with the following message alongside: "Warning! The front mounting must not be used when installing load compartment grille. Use rear mounting!"

Gnomeface - will you share the PDF please? My dealer installed it but I'd like to see those instructions in case I want to remove/reintall it. thanks!

The hanger hooks behind the front seats twist out to reveal an attachment point for the dog gate, if I'm not mistaken.

Presumably it might fit there (or might LOOK as if it fits) but Volvo's strong warning not to do so is clear enough. It would certainly cause problems with adjustable front seats and might be a safety hazard for rear seat passengers.

Hey, just bought an 2020 XC40 three weeks ago. I ordered the dog guard as well, how hard would you say it is to install?

Once the plastic covers over the mounting points have been removed (they slide forward to release) the assembly and fitting is straightforward - just follow the instructions carefully. I was impressed by the quality and design.
