I have had three complete power failures in three months. Each requiring a flat bad tow. All have been reported to TSA.

This time they state it is due to a leak in the TCAM antenna causing water damage and a TCAM failure. The service manager
states they found water in the module and this issue is not part of a recall notification.

Active Service Campaign : A10140 Antenna Cover : Model Year 2021 and 2022 90 Series, XC60 and XC40
Item:A10140-2021-12-09

In my case they replace the TCAM and did a reseal.

The cause is an apparent failure of the adhesive to bond to the antenna and car and produce a tight seal.

Continental, which makes the TCAM, is a multinational company in Germany that specializes in
brake systems, interior electronics, automotive safety , power train, safety, self driving ,chassis components and electronic modules
for electronic integration. And, they also make tires.

I had read, either in this forum or one of the ones on FB, that the seal is a known weak point for moisture leakage. Something about it being sealed with tape.

While researching this I noticed this one;

New software products (sp) have been developed to convert a care key to a standard key.

I had read, either in this forum or one of the ones on FB, that the seal is a known weak point for moisture leakage. Something about it being sealed with tape.
I was told by the manager there was a rubber seal that was not seated. And a two part adhesive had failed to bond causing the gasket to unseat.

I am not certain what the actual problem was, but the manager seemed adamant that this was a failure of bonding of the gasket due to and adhesive issue from the factory.

I've been noticing a prominent mildew smell in my car whenever it's been raining (and I store my car in garage overnight). I wonder if I have a leak somewhere and if it's related to this issue?

Volvo Recall

Check above if your vehicle has a recall.
Unfortunately, a Technical service bulletin or active service campaign is NOT a recall. It will not be listed on an recall site.

It currently isn't listed as an official NHTSA recall. It is a technical service bulletin for people who have been having any issue that could be associated with the TCAM.

Recalls | NHTSA this will give all current recalls.

It is an active service campaign....


A recall takes care of safety issues due to risks found that are not compliant with National Highway Traffic & Safety Administration standards. A service campaign is issued for technical performance standards not related to safety.

A "customer service campaign" doesn't conform to NHTSA notification rules. The problem is not considered to be a safety issue, and the automaker issues one to address complaints and keep the customer happy, according to Consumer Reports. Service campaigns often cover widespread problems that occur after the warranty expires.

A "customer service campaign" can also be referred to as a "secret warranty" because in some cases the only ones who find out about them are those that complain to dealers.

Unlike with safety recalls, manufacturers aren't required to notify vehicle owners of TSBs. Instead, they send the notices to dealers to address complaints from owners that something doesn't work properly. That means it's up to the vehicle owner to bring their vehicle to a dealership to initiate a repair.

Anyone who has problems associated with TCAM issues, and, the TCAM is involved in
Charging
GPS
LTE
Power management
and
the power train.
Just about everything people have had multiple complaints and issues with.

It is an intermittent issue due to moisture causing erratic performance and failures.

I waited for some time before writing back here. I was suspecting that my TCAM is loosing signal because of the rain. It is Vancouver and rains a lot, similar to Seattle and of course that is the first thing that came in my mind because it happens when rains. Not every time. Latter I updated to 1.8 did network reset and over a week I have consistent LTE signal. No problems.

I'll keep and eye out for any problems, as its been snowing and rain the last few days. If its going to leak, this is the time it will do it.

This seems like good news. So many of the problems people seem to be having here sound like they could be TCAM-related. Hopefully this recall will resolve a bunch of them - and prevent them in newer builds.

It is important to remember this is defined by Volvo as an "Active Service Campaign" and not a recall. Owners will not be contacted regarding this issue by Volvo. This has been documented above with the following link.

I obtained the document listed in this link to see what Volvo recommends to the dealers as to the solution to the problem. Solution = Tape. :rolleyes: Part number: 31383678 (See pdf attached below)

First off, thank you for highlighting the Volvo Store for obtaining Service Bulletins as identified in the link below.

I was curious to see what the first two bulletins said since they seem to involve issues surrounding OTA updates. (Another common issue as reported on this Forum)

Agreed The money is insignificant and worth it. Just trying to understand why they would charge for an electronic document like that.

As they are charging do they mind us sharing them here?

Never come across a doc like that being a pay to read. I am probably missing something. :)

There appeared to be no restrictions on sharing. As I accessed the “store”, I only identified three that I wanted to review. I posted all three here. I fear some Volvo dealers may not have deep knowledge regarding EVs and felt I needed more.
