Which doesn't work if your Google account is a Google Apps (i.e. with custom domain) email. It only works with @gmail.com emails...
Not entirely accurate. It cannot be a Google Workspace account, however it does not have to be an @gmail.com address. You can create a "Google" account with a third party email address and that will still work. Just to clarify for anyone that might have created a Google account with another email address.
There's a post below that says a custom Google email account won't let you sign in to the car system. I have a custom gmail address - [email protected] and I'm picking my new XC40 mild hybrid up tomorrrow. Is the email going to work for me?
If the account is NOT a Google Workspace account, this will still work. Only workspace accounts dont work.

Picked the car up and I couldn't login with my Gmail custom domain. I had set up an alternative Gmail account thanks to the information here. Everything working ok but I have to remember to switch accounts on my phone for remote start. I'm delighted with the car but I hope Google can do something here eventually. I have Google Workspace Business Starter at no cost so I hope there may be a way around this issue. Version 2.9 on the car.

No OTA update for 2.9 yet in northern New England. I hope it shows up within two weeks as I will take my first longer trip to Montréal in the C40.

2.7 has been fine, but I have to reboot the entertainment system every so often because the audio stops working.

I've found a free program here SyncGene – synchronize your Contacts, Calendar and Tasks that syncs contacts and calendar between two Google accounts. It seems to work ok.

Yes... Google Workspace. I couldn't remember the name when I wrote that. :) Thanks for the correction.

You should definitely schedule a service appointment.

You need an appointment. I think you’re too far back for OTAs now.
I live in an area with 0.5G mobile coverage; and the car rests here most of the time. Do i need to go to a dealer to get the OTA be a OTW?

When the update is made available OTA usually 1-3 weeks from when it’s announced, it will automatically download to the car as long as automatic updates are enabled in the settings. It will only download while the car is on and being driven. Once downloaded, you will get a notification on your Volvo app and in the car to start the installation.
If you don’t want to wait. Schedule an appointment with service for them to push the software to your car manually.

I never receive an email notification. Is there a page to register?

I don’t think so. I never did. It’s probably linked with your Volvo ID and authorisation

There is no registration page for OTA. Notifications come to your registered email and directly into your Volvo mobile app, along with a notification on your C40 console that the software is ready to be downloaded. Here is a sample email from Volvo from OTA2.7.
