I have found the XC40 says it has RDS and turned on under the media function.
It doesn't actually work.
having my old 2013 Mitsubishi Triton right beside the 40 the triton it picks up the RDS and XC40 doesn't
has anyone gotten it to work?

I can also confirm that the RDS radio on my XC40 is not working (despite ensuring it is activated in the media setting screen) Not good

Forgive my ignorance, but what will RDS offer? Is it a different form of HD Radio which does work on our XC40s? Well, it works on my XC40, but it may be region specific. Is RDS basically sub stations of a main radio station and scrolling text telling you the name of the station, the show, the artists and the name of the song? Weather and traffic alerts? You have me curious. I want to make sure I am getting the most out of my purchase. If I should have RDS working in my car and it does not, and it offers something cool that I would like to have, then I need to go to the dealer to get this fixed.

not sure what HD radio is? we have DAB+ in Aust. but should also provide data as well, and it still doesn't work.

They seem pretty similar with HD Radio being mainly here in North America with few implementations of it outside of North America. I can say that HD radio does work on my 2020 XC40. However, it might be something that is only included as part of the premium stereo system package. Not sure why since HD radio is more or less a free thing. An OTA signal. Nonetheless, I rarely use it as I listen to Sirius XM satellite radio in my XC40, listen to Spotify, or stream Apple Music or my own music via bluetooth when in the vehicle.

Thanks for asking the question. I had never heard of RDS prior to your original posting. So, because of that I learned something new. Always good to learn new things.
