Noise from the front driving over speed bumps?

When I drive my November 2023 (4000km) XC40 P6 over speed bumps there is a sound coming from the front. After extensive searching for the source the dealer found the top bearings of the shocks worn/damaged.
Apparently this is a known issue and a new version of these top bearings are on the way.

Has anyone heard of this before on the XC40? Came across a post on another forum with a guy having driven only 800km’s with his brand new car when the sound appeared.

My car is going tot the dealer end of next week for replacement of the top bearings. There is no new version yet but I was getting so annoyed by the noise that I did not want to wait any longer.
You mentioned there supposed to be a updated version of the parts? I am too on my 3rd set, and still making noise after merely 2 months of the replacement. I am currently waiting for parts before sending it again, this will be my 4th.

may i know what's the name of the parts that you are replacing? For me, it is the top bearings and Anchorage
Same problem here. My car is going tot the local dealer next week for replacement of the top bearings (In italian “biellette”)
Mine has already been changed once and it seems to me that after a few kms the noise comes back...
The problems are not just the noises here, in my case....bad customer experience, lack of brand care on cars.
I think it's terrible for customers to complain and not for Volvo to request a general recall.

The top bearings on top of the shock yes.

My top bearings were replaced two days ago. unfortunately, this was not the solution. Wrote the dealer I will call them next week. See what they come up with. Maybe it’s the front shocks that need replacing?

The noise has returned . The dealer now go to change the complete shock absorber on the right side.
Let's see if it works, and do an update
They changed the top bearings but same noise 😭 …new appointment in one month and they will try with change of the shock absorbers tower 😤😤
Update: my car since 3days @factory to change the shock absorber. They said they are waiting volvo hq autorization before do it. Really poor customer service and no updates (I’ve to call everyday to understand if car is ready or not).

The problem is that change the shock absorber and not resolve....let me see in another 4000/5000kms if return or not the noise.

After several days.. noise is back, not like before but I can hear ☹

Yes 😐

The problem is that Volvo doesn't know how to solve the problem.

First they change the supports or the upper pads of the shock absorber on the right side, we drove 4,000kms in our case, always on a road with good asphalt and it came back. Now it was the front and rear shock on the right (behind for another reason) and the front came back. The rear was the zipper of the suitcase that was poorly mounted....
Before they changed it at the dealership, I asked why they put new shock absorbers on the car? They said that the factory sent it.... since they didn't have the guarantee that it will solve it. I warned that I would only know that it would resolve after driving more than 4,000 km and only after that I could say if it resolved.
We've done 3,000 kms and it's already making noise again. It was clear that it didn't work. As they change the stops or the crackers or something the noise disappears, after they do retightening or something like that, after a few kms it comes back. The same thing happened with the damper....
I don't know what else to think...the best thing is to lift the radio and forget that the problem exists and apparently it is common to a large batch of cars and the factory is unable to solve the problem.
The serious thing is when the car doesn't just have these problems...

oh yeah also me! Mine 2023 P6 3500km, It is like knocking sound from front right wheel area… I will see dealer next days maybe same issue!
Hi, I purchased a Volvo XC40 pure (single motor version) Right from the beginning I noticed 2 issues. One is that when I am turning shrply I hear a sort of swishing? noise from the front. The sceson is the knocking that sounds like from left side and slightly to rear of passenger seat. It happens mainly when the car is turning and encounters bumps on the left side only. On main road I dont get the clunk when going over bumps with car going straight. Took it to Volvo dealer and they have ordered replacement front suspension strut tops. They are due in June so I hope this fixes both issues. BTW: is anyone finding they feel a bit of small vibration under foot when driving? Not sure if maybe tyre pressure is slightly high? The day I took the car in they gave me a loan car C40 and that was completely smooth like a different car.

Double check that the knocking you're hearing isn't the front passenger seatbelt buckle hitting against the B-pillar trim. Just a thought based on where you said you thought the noise was coming from. Obviously won't happen if the belt is buckled, so that's one way to rule it out either with a passenger or just buckling the belt into the receptacle.
