My 2019 XC 40 R-Design T5-AWD makes numerous noises after shut down. Even after 5 seconds I can hear some clicking from the body. I attributed it to some shutdown sequence which may include engaging locks, internal "parking" of a mechanical device, etc. I got used to it.

It's likely an electrically operated air dam of some kind. Often, cars will have plastic dams / flaps within the front grill that will open/close depending upon speed in order to either a) assist in warming the engine or b) increase fuel economy.

My XC40 Recharge T5 plug-in hybrid makes a similar noise, but not just when turning off. It does it every few hours, for 2-20 minutes, including when turned off, locked, not charging, and no key is around.
They replaced the electric airco compressor, but that didn’t make any difference. Who knows what causes this?

i have exactly the same sound. it starts after I switch off the engine and can continue between 1 to 15 minutes. I have the impression it is shorter when I lock the car and longer when I keep the car unlocked. my car was manufactured in Belgium last year. XC40 hybrid T5.

will check with dealer at some time, so far no other issues.

I noticed same sound and started looking what it is. I know about which noise are you talking, this one from 3 to 6 sec on your vid, like the engine would be stopping not be stopped already. I would assume it comes from the torque converter in transmission but I'm not sure.

Have you solved this?

In my case (xc40 T5 hybrid), the sound is still there. Dealer checked error logs twice and found no anomaly. Dealer did do a new software update. I’ll let you all know how that goes. The weather in the Netherlands is not good enough (rain) to spend too much time outside next to my car to check every time.

I have scratching noise like trapped bird or rodent , dealer checked and said all's ok but I'm not convinced as it's definitely friction noise
