Anybody thinks having no Start/Stop button in the car and relying on presence of a butt in the driver seat is a good idea ?
If you turn on Parking Climate, open the windows, leave the car, and reach in to turn on the music (I can only reach from passenger side), it does play without anyone in the driver's seat. Parking Climate only runs for 30 minutes, but I believe you can activate it again when it runs out. Although it may not be a great idea to run HVAC for too long in the XC40/C40 due to efficiency concerns. It's far from ideal, but at least it's possible to roll down the windows and have music play for 30 minutes. At the beach, want to roll down the windows and play some music, no can do.
You can activate Parking Climate and have HVAC running after you leave the driver's seat. I think most of the functions in the center screen are accessible in this state without someone in the driver's seat.Stopping in a convenient store to get sweets, passenger loose music, heat, cooling. I haven't tested it, but I assume if you have the automatic closing of the sunroof, it would also close.
I checked our C40 and opening the rear door without someone in driver's seat does turn on the interior "dome" lights. However the illumination on the door cards don't light up until someone sits in the driver's seat. This again seems like an issue with Volvo's implementation instead of not having a start button. If you open the rear doors with no one in the driver seat, interior lights do not turn on. I don't know if they do if I'm in the driver seat.
