New Member and “Proud Owner”/ Lots of Defects

My new XC40 R Design was delivered almost 3 months ago...The car in overall is the best you can get on the market....but there are factory defects....
1. Paint defects
2. Broken part in the seat
3. A scratched Speedometer Glass
4. Water leaking from Panoramic...seems it is not well fitted.
5. Cracking noises from back door and baggage area...
6. Software Bugs( keep indicating a software update). Took it for online update and still appears.
7. Really bad quality of glossy plastics inside/ out
8. You can hear and feel the air coming in cabin while driving in high speeds.

So all these issues clearly declare that quality control was totally absent....This is very sad outcome for a premium automaker.

Welcome to forum, but sorry to hear that you've already come across so many QA issues. Sounds like Volvo could have invested a lot more time in sound deadening and fit and finish on your model. What kind of paint defects are you seeing? Orange peeling, swirling, overspray?
Glad to have a new owner on board, but unfortunate that your experience with the new vehicle has been disappointing so far. Please keep us updated with the ongoings of your car and what solutions (if any) your dealer was able to find. Welcome.
Volvo has been really having to push production to try and meet all the demand they've seen for this car. Unfortunately that's resulted in some negligence when it comes to quality assurance. There have been a fair number of owners complaining about paint issues, and if it becomes a widely reported issue, Volvo should be correcting it.

Thank you for embracing me in the community.
It’s been a wonderful experience so far driving the XC40 and really enjoying it. But sometimes even the most commons are missing...
Ours came with none of these issues. She was perfect. Sorry to hear yours didn't make the mark. Should be items that are covered under warranty. Good luck.
After seeing positive ratings online, some too good to believe and then coming back to see owners with detailed complains on boards like this, makes you wonder.

one example were these reports https://www.cars.com/research/volvo-xc40-2019/consumer-reviews/
One must remember that on forums - the problem issues can seem far worse that reality as the problems are highlighted on forums and not the thousands of people who have not had issues at all. This can easily skew the perception of reliability as it seems that there are a lot of problems that get posted to forums. I belong to quite a few forums relating to other vehicles/ motorcycles etc. - Some of these vehicles are quite bulletproof but someone first logging on to the forums can easily get the perception that the vehicle is unreliable as mostly problems get highlighted on forums.

Hi to all! Really appreciate sharing your thoughts! I really agree with all these!Forums can’t give the “big picture”.Faults are existing and solutions should be given..
You can add guys the water leak under the driver seat I ‘ve found yesterday after raining all day.The is a flood under the carpet where the amplifier is.Possibly it comes from the sunroof ending under the seat through the pillar.

resale values of Volvo's sure agree with the fact its issues aren't nearly as bad because if they were, values would be as bad as most German luxury vehicles.

You will definitely want to get any water leaks addressed as quickly as possible. Wont take long for that to cause damage/corrosion where its collecting. Cant be good to have water running along all those electronics either. Some kind of short could end up being disastrous for the cars computer.

Very much agree with that advice. I've known two people who had this happen on relatively new cars. One was quoted $12k by an Audi dealer to replace electronics that were fried when water got from a defective sunroof seal down into the amp.
