New iX1 looks like it could be a big hit

Good specs, especially for something that isn't a dedicated EV platform. Looks like an X1 should, and hopefully feels enough like a BMW when you drive one. I almost regret not waiting for these to come out. But who knows when we'll actually see deliveries in the US.

Motor1.com says it's not coming to USA. Not the 2023 model year, at least.

Yeah, I saw something to that effect on insideevs, too. I suspect they'll be pushing the PHEV in the US. Oh well. Glad I got the XC40 instead of waiting for this.
Ordered the iX1, delivery Q1-Q2 next year. Less than a year left with the buggy xc40, first and last volvo.
This looks great! We are pulling the pin on or recharge order. Think this might be the alternative!
I'm looking at new options now as I don't think my XC40 is going to last past 4 years without a lot of maintenance. The new X1 looks nice!
I have had my p8 for 1 year and no problems.
I drive it hard and charge to 100% every time.
It currently achieves 230 miles on a full charge with ac on.
Best car I have ever owned.

Question to those hating on the XC40.... are you talking about the Recharge or an ICE version? As someone looking to move to an XC40 Recharge who's currently hating on his VW ID4, I'd rather not jump from one fire to another. Would love to hear about the warts.... based on the model year.

FWIW, VW's newer versions have fixed some of the ID4's issues, but the first ones? No can do. No will do. I think their plan is to show "angst", say a lot of "I feel your pain", give off the right vibes, but essentially do nothing.
You could buy an EV6 GT if you want a car that drives like a BMW. Albert Biermann is who designed the suspension, and you can absolutely tell.

Sadly, there's this:
What's lacking, sadly, as in several other recent BMWs, is the sense of dynamic connection that formerly came as standard with any of the company's products. The iX1's steering is completely devoid of low-speed feedback, and its front-biased handling balance is easily powered into understeer. The retired i3 was smaller and slower but was also sharper and better to drive.

The Recharge. I had a C40 Recharge and it was the worst POS I've ever owned. Multiple TCAM failures that disabled the car's ability to sense the key fob unless in the RFIB "cup" in the console (requiring me to rip into the carpet and hatch and under-dash fuse box multiple times to disconnect everything to "fix" it), incessant vibration at speed and acceleration. Clicking sounds when accelerating. Something loose in the dash that would "clack" back and forth when I took corners. A suspension that reminded me of watching someone try to ride a pogostick on meth. I took a $20K trade loss and left with a smile on my face, I hated that car so much by the end of my 6-7mo of ownership. I bought it because it was the only EV I could find without an ADM. I now know why.

Also keep in mind what you're getting:

-No acoustic glass.
-No HUD
-No adaptive suspension
-No drive modes beyond 1 pedal on/off and steering firm/light.
-Very inefficient for the power offered
-112mph speed limitation
-No ventilated seats
-No ability to power things off a 110/120v
-Staggered tire setup prevents ability to rotate, and leads to plowing in corners or emergency maneuvers
-400v architecture and 155kw max charging until the new model

After you get over how comfortable the seats are, and how good the Google interface is, and how the HK sound system is well done, the car is literally as basic as you can get in 2023, even if you spend $16,999. It literally has no features or amenities.

...all in a $62k "luxury" car.

The Tesla in your avatar made me laugh at this.
