If I had the choice, I'd go for the newer one as it has more range, same amount of power and performace (I think)...Also it will be more rear-biased power so that could be a good thing. We have the MY22 Recharge Twin and it's awesome from a power standpoint, but it;s pretty inefficient for an EV, which means the range is pretty ordinary. Looks like the new one gets about 20% better range (give or take). I wonder what the dealer would give us on a trade-in to step up to a MY24? :)

Interesting thread! I am in exactly that thought process today. Very satisfied with our feb 2021 XC40, which was bought so we own it. Thus, the drop in secondhand price is of great interest. And, so is the anticipated 'look and feel' of the upcoming twin engined 2024 model. My car has plenty range for my use, but it is pretty obvious that the secondhand prices will drop as the 24 model comes to market. Specifically when the first secondhand 24 models come to market. That will, most probably, make our existing cars much more difficult to sell or trade-in.

Obviously noone has tried the 24 models yet, byt if you happen to come across any technical information, assumptions or ++, please share!

I was lucky to catch MY23 because the range is not of my big concern, but permanent AWD with 50:50 torque is my big concern because I come from Audi Quattro and drive a lot in the snow... I understand the quest for efficiency, but, as everything in life it a matter of tradeoff. There is a old Stones song - You Can't Always Get What You Want :-D

I think I like having permanent AWD actually. I can definitely feel it accelerating out of turns. Efficiency isn’t bothering me in my daily driving.

If they added driving modes to MY24 onwards to give drivers choice. That would be awesome.
Can't beat the grip and torque! It's awesome! Coming from a RWD sports sedan it's so much better.

Totally agree! We know that the 2024 AWD will be more efficient due to the major changes in battery and drivetrain. But, the open question is whether its driving characteristics will be less, equal to or more exiting than the current model.

Exactly. We are in the minority who prefer the current motor configuration over efficiency. The news is all about efficiency and range and that is what gets the attention. I think Bjorn has successfully explained the difference in his video where he compares the XC40 P8 handling in the snow vs Tesla model 3:

I actually had a choice between two models because I bought a car very recently. When I came to dealer i could buy a MY23 and have it in three weeks (I was very lucky) or I can order MY24 and wait for it about a year. It is not problem to wait a year because my current Audi A6 Quattro is still in good condition (albeit 15 years old and 250.000 km on the clock). Of course, a part of the reason for opting MY23 was quick delivery, but main reason was 50:50 drivetrain regardless worse efficiency. Efficiency is not concerning me at all, because I make longer one way trips than MY23 range just couple times a year.
