Hi all - newly signed up to the forum, first post. Hopefully tomorrow morning our six-month-plus journey through the CbV swamp will yield our XC40. Signed up on 1/1 (loved being able to do it on my phone while watching bowl games). Got the VIN in March and was told the expected delivery window was mid-April to late May. Found out that it had arrived in port on 4/5 and cleared customs on 4/7. A couple of weeks later our dealer called out of the blue and said it was on the hauler, expected to be able to deliver after the weekend. Hadn't heard anything from Liberty Mutual so he suggested I contact the concierge to acquire e-forms, which I did. Before the concierge (Denise at the time) got back to me later the next day, the dealer rep contacted me apologizing for supplying erroneous info - our XC40 was not in fact en route, and he had no idea when it would be arriving. But I had already given my wife the incorrect info, so both of us were crushed, especially when it was another three weeks before the LM link arrived, followed a week later by Volvo credit.
We have been tempted on many occasions to drop out. Hopefully tomorrow morning we'll be glad we put those thoughts aside. I should also mention that shortly after signing up, our second vehicle (2003 Honda Accord) completely died, and we have been a one-car couple for most of the last six months, renting on occasion when the need arose. Only recently has Volvo offered to reimburse us for some of the rentals (no loaners were offered).
Hope to have pictures of Elsa tomorrow. Sorry, we're nerds who name our vehicles.
