It’s loss of signal tested and proved.

Let’s you know there is no signal by distracting you whilst driving … I find this to be a very odd design choice especially as it is in the periphery of our vision which is often where we perceive threats. Oh well.

It can be useful, though. Flashing SOS is another way to confirm that you've held the Defrost button in long enough to reboot the TCAM (LTE modem).

Has anyone else experienced the SOS button flashing red? (Not the hazard flashers, the button opposite the On Call button.) I noticed it while driving, the other day and my passenger in the rear seat noticed it too. So I didn’t hallucinate it.

I suspect it indicates that the LTE connection was cutting in and out.
This happened to us today & no, we didn’t accidentally push on the SOS button.
We were in an area w/ no cell service & only after a few mins, did I realize that my cellular data was off on my phone. When I put that back on the flashing stopped.
