What kind of ambient temperature is it that you get 29~37kwh/100mi? On our C40 during the winter, which is mostly 30F or below, 42~45kwh/100mi seems to be the norm. In the summer we do get around 35kwh/100mi, give or take depending on speed/HVAC usage/etc.
I'm in central NH, and for the 4 months or so I've had my car, I've averaged 32.4kWh/100mi. I preheat most of the time in the cold weather, the car is garaged, the cabin temp is set to 65°F and I'd say 50-60% of my driving is on 30-40mph roads. I drive it no differently than I've driven any of my other cars, and I'm expecting the rate to improve as the weather gets warmer.

Even in the summer we rarely get as low as 32kwh/100mi in the C40. Then again this is my wife's commuter and she drives 30 minutes each way with most of it around 75MPH on the highway, so it probably makes sense to have higher consumption. We can't really preheat the car (while plugged in anyway) in the winter because the charger we got for the car is on an EV off-peak plan so it's really cheap between 12AM~6AM but quite a bit more expensive than the rest of the house outside of those hours, so we basically only charge the C40 during those hours.

not sure how he was getting such poor efficiency, the c40 is capable of doing 29-37kwh/100mi. If one drives with the foot on the ground, one will definitely not achieve the numbers Volvo quotes are possible. Electric cars require some sedate driving to extract the most out of the battery.
SoCal here and my lifetime efficiency is 34.1 and I drive it moderately but with frequent stabs of the pedal to enjoy the feeling

Speed is everything. 30-40mph is a sweet spot I get great efficiency at that speed.

Not sure it's entirely fair to include preheating in your efficiency as you are effectively pre-consuming electricity. Not that there's much of an alternative.

Does anyone know for sure if preheating uses the heat pump or HVCH? I've seen some mixed speculation and would rather use the more efficient heat pump if possible. I guess I should just go to the garage and see if the heat pump turns on....

Yea, when I drive at 75-90 mph the range drops down to about 170-180 miles on a charge. Not the kind of car that likes high speed cruising! I taught myself to just drive at 65-70 to maximize efficiency in the Volvo. If I wanna go fast fast, I jump into my Evora 😊

Makes for a fun two car garage 😊
Beautiful Evora! I considered one when they came out, but the Evora S was more than I wanted to spend. Always loved them though!

That said, yes, c40 does not welcome performance driving. The entire rest of the car seems to always ask "bro...what? Im not about that life" When you remind it that it's got 400hp.

hahaha the Volvo is definitely a commuter car with 400hp, but that instant torque is too fun! Real pig in a bend tho hehe.

Yeaa, the evora is an odd ball choice but I could not be happier with it, bought it new and it’s just hitting 6k miles. Great great car :)

Looks like my C40 was immediately gotten rid of by the dealer I traded to, and sent to the Volvo store in another state (Same auto group), and then Certified. They want $51k for it. I'm very curious how long it sits on their lot. I suspect...a while. I bet it sells for around $46-48k, ultimately. Certification probably cost the dealer around $1000 or so, from what I'm reading. Then there was shipping it 500 miles. I'd say they're in my trade for about $44-45k right now, and looking for $6K profit at asking price. I HIGHLY doubt they get it. At best I can see them pulling $48,500 out of it.

Anyway...anyone on here want the OEM Pirelli's that came on it? All 4 have 9/32 left (I put about 500mi on them total, more or less. 9/32 is OEM rating.) and were RF balanced and we know they're good to go! No punctures or any patches, etc. Shipping will probably suck, but I'd like to make $600 on top of actual shipping costs. Still the cheapest tires you're going to get for this car that don't suck.

Got WeatherTech front/rear mats too that could be discussed.

I hope all prospective buyers test drive it on the freeway first. I've also wondered what happens to the vibrating XC40s I'm returning to Care by Volvo UK. Further to that I'm wondering if I'm receiving factory "rejects" on the subscription model. Two in a row seems highly improbable given the denial shown by the dealers and this forum.

Nah, Volvo doesn't even acknowledge the "characteristic". Luck of the draw is my guess. May I suggest you try a Kia EV6? Mine is way better in every way than my C40 was. Smooth as silk, too!

I did, and it is smooth, like my Mini Electric is and even the hybrids before that (CVT is pretty close). However, it's not really the body style I want so going to roll those dice with the Volvo subscription again and see if they can avoid making it three in a row. Will report back on that in about 4 weeks.

Understood. The C40 is a very classy looking vehicle. If I could have gotten the features and quality the Kia offered, along with performance, in the C40, it would have been an amazing match!

Thanks for the update. Always interested to hear this type of information.

I think car prices are starting to move up again. They are probably pretty happy if they can make $3-4k on the car alone.

I'll be watching it to see how long it sits. That said, it may not tell us anything as they may be willing to deal ASAP with it. That said, I've been watching a C40 2023 1K miles on it sit for months at 56, then 55, then 53k, and it's a program/service car, not even pre-owned. Still sitting.

Wow, you really do have a problem moving on don't you?

When I sell a car on I move on, for what price, or who it eventually sells to is totally irrelevant to me. Life is too short to give a crap about such things. This is like splitting up with a girlfriend, then hanging around outside her house and looking at her social media pages to see how she gets on without you.

Move on already. And I don't mean it in a people are tired of seeing your posts, I mean it in a get on with your life kind of way. For your own mental health.

Thankyou for your concern.

Nah, Im curious what the issue ultimately was. I always said it was the motors, and like to keep up with the threads and see.

FWIW, never checked out my Exs page. I knew what her issue was, so no curiosity, there, lol!
