Hallo everybody I'm testing my new B3. I must admit that above 130 km/h there is this sensation of muffled sounds, as if you are plugging your ears. Does this happen to you too? All windows are closed, the issue is mainly from aft seats.

I do not know what a B3 is, different model desingatios here in the States, but, no, my passengers have not reported any similar discomfort in the rear seats of my C40 twin.

Hello

I have a B3 (2023). No noise except when the rear windows are open.

In France (and it’s probably the same in european countries) the XC40 mild hybrid exist in 2 motors versions B3 (163 horsepower) and B4 (197).

Windows are perfectly closed. The issue is not in the rear seats but in the front seats. My B3 is a mild hybrid 163 hp. Do you known if the car has an active noise reduction system?

One possibility is that the B3 and B4 engines may have an active noise cancellation. I say may, as I saw it on B4 specs in Australia but we don't have the B3 in this country. It isn't applied the B5. This uses microphones just above the sun visor to detect cabin sounds and plays a cancelling sound through the speakers.
It may be that if the mics are blocked or the system isn't working properly, then it could be playing a sound out of sync.

Just a guess, but perhaps wind or road noise above a certain speed produces a sound the system can't react well too? That's speculation though.

I hope it will be the cause, because other situations could be very difficult to solve. The dealer told me that the car has Harman sound system with its active noise reduction, but it has not other active noise reduction, but the car above the sun visor as microphones...similar to the Xc60 that has the active noise...Next week I will try another Xc40 to understand if the issue will be present.
