After only four days with my new XC40 Recharge, I experienced electronics (infotainment) flakiness. My other vehicle is a 2021 Range Rover, so quirky electronics is a way of life for me. But I guess I expected better from Volvo.

I was no longer able to turn on the map in my instrument cluster - the steering wheel button did nothing. I decided for the first time to use the Volvo Help Line button in the car, and the support agent was very responsive and told me how to soft-reboot the system. That solved the problem. But then, from that point forward, every time I got into the car, I got an alert in the center display stating "Hold the call button for two seconds if you want to reach Volvo support" and I had to tap "Cancel." That went on for two days before I tried the soft-reboot, and that didn't clear up the problem, so I had to do the harder-reboot (holding down defrost button for 60 seconds), which did solve the problem. Certainly not the end of the world, but somewhat concerning/disappointing to experience on day #4 of ownership.😐

(I am on the latest software version, 2.7)

I have not had that particular problem. You will probably find many more weird glitches and oddball implementations over the next few weeks. Keep posting your annoyances; someone may be able to make a helpful suggestion.

I have been fortunate in not experiencing many of the up issues we read about here including buzzing interior lighting and vibrations at high speeds.

I, too, came from a JLR product (Jaguar I-PACE) so electronic quirks are expected.

When weird things happen, you can always reset the IHU: Keep pressing the button underneath the center display until it goes dark and displays "Volvo."

IF you encounter more weird things, you can also reset the TCAM or the communications relay by pressing the front windshield button until the "SOS" light on the overhead starts blinking red.

Thank you. These two types of resets are exactly what I was referring to as "soft reboot" and "harder reboot" in my original post. The Volvo support rep instructed me on how to use both of those. In an ideal world, I won't have to do this too often, but I have to re-boot my iPhone every couple weeks to keep it going, so I probably shouldn't gripe about having to do the same to my car 😬

I had a tcam issue that required my car be updated and reset. Rebooting (either way) didn't help. Since it has been working great (fingers crossed). A bunch of little quirky issues seamed to be fixed when I got 2.7 OTA. I'm a software architect so I guess I'm ok that we are very obviously beta testers. I love my car though.
