Our cars do not have an engine. They do have a motor, but that electric motor wont make any sounds unless in motion.

What you are likely hearing is the cooling system. The batteries need to maintain a certain temperature. It is common, especially while charging, or on extremely hot days (or in a warm garage) to hear these fans and pumps operating. This is normal.

If you charge from low to 90 on a hot day the cooling system makes an amazing amount of noise. I sometimes listen to it and chuckle at the silence of evs :) which is of course normally the case.
