I had a problem with the rear hatch kick sensor which the technician said was due to a corroded connector. This was about 2 months after the car was manufactured. Which I think must mean it was already corroded when the car was built.
where is this emergency release for the charging cable? I was under the impression this car did not have oneProblem - after usual charging, it was not possible to unplug the charging cable. Nothing advised here worked, so 24 hr assistance came.
Diagnosis - some faulty connection for lock mechanism. Technician had to use a long pair of pliers to unlock the emergency mechanism, which is really difficult to get to. Might be due to some corrosion on Locking mechanism (although cable always covered and shielded)
Moral of the story - This now the second time that the cable mechanism has immobilised the car. So not confident to use roadside chargers. Third strike - change car
This has to be one of the scariest malfunctions with EVs. It also happened to me twice with my XC40 Recharge. I didn't wait for a third strike though. Good to know there IS an emergency mechanism. No one at the Volvo help line knew about it back when it happened to me.Problem - after usual charging, it was not possible to unplug the charging cable. When you say he had to use long pliers to access the emergency mechanism, can you be more specific please? Did he just use the pliers somewhere around the cable plug on the outside to release the locking tang, or did he remove the carpet trim on the inside of the car and access something from inside the car?Problem - after usual charging, it was not possible to unplug the charging cable.
