Hi,

Does anybody find that the estimated finish time for charging is really off or is that just me? For example, I plugged the car in this morning and it said it would finish at 10:13am, but it actually finished closer to 12:15p. The app/dashboard update their time as it goes along (it will creep back continuously throughout the charge), so maybe it is just an overly optimistic calculator? The charge rate stays consistent throughout the charging session, so it isn't that electricity is variable. It isn't hugely problematic since I can always do some back of the envelope math to figure out how long it will take before plugging in, but just curious if I was alone in this.

That estimate is complicated guess, many factors. You would need a few dozen charge cycles and notes about temperature and any other factors you think might affect the cycle. If you just updated to 2.7, might be related.

Yes. Since 2.5 it’s done this.

Only if you use AC recharger
With DC the car and the charger talk using the cable and from my experience in Italy the recharge time is very accurate
With AC you have to do some calculations yourself because the estimation is always wrong

The problem with DC charging in the States is the kW level is constantly changing between, say, 50kW and 130kW, by factors no one can understand. The time projection may be accurate but it is neither predictable nor reliably consistent so the end result is about the same. DC is quicker, surely, but no more foreseeable.

I get it
Luckily in Italy the majority of the dc chargers have a constant kw level, so prediction is almost always accurate
You have in any case to precondition the battery otherwise your estimate will be pessimistic

DC Fast charging is algorithmic and is easily understood by most people: If the battery is warm enough to accept full power at the current state of charge, then the charge curve is very predictable.
Check out Fastned for a typical charge curve at a charger than can deliver at least 150 kW.
If the battery is cold, then the charge speed will be less than what Fastned shows.

This problem appeared since update ver. 2.4 or 2.5 and has not been corrected by even 2.7.
My Volvo dealer has been notified about this and they cannot do anything except to wait for the factory to relase a software fix some point in the future. In the meantime, the car seems to think it's going to be able to complete the charge in a mere 1.5 hours on a charge that would take more than 1.5 hrs, and keeps incrementing that ETA time every minute by maintaining the 1.5 hrs time span to completion, For charges requiring less than 1.5 hrs, the proper (accurate) time to completion is reported.

I tried to remove Google map by dragging it to the trash icon and was then notified on the screen that the app can not be deleted. How did you remove Google map?

Agree maps should not be deleted but someone on this thread claims that action is a fix to charge time estimates wackiness. I just charged up the car last night and the initial completion time was based on a 40 amp current draw, though I charged the car at 24 amps.

I just sent another email to Volvo customer support.
