Car not unlocking with proximity key

My car has started to not open without getting the fob out and using the buttons. It started sporadically and increased. My car is only two weeks old (2021 xc40 t5 R-design). Should I try a new battery or take it to the dealer?

I would certainly swap out the fob's battery and try that first.
Got up this morning and its working perfectly fine.. 🙃
JK it only worked once. I have tried the spare key and even replacing the battery. The keys start and unlock the car with the fob buttons. I sent a video to the service department and they haven't replied yet. I have tried different positioning of my hand and all door handles.
Make sure that you're not touching the lock area (the indented area on the handle) of the door handle when you try to open the door. It's natural to put your thumb right on the indent when trying to open the door, I've done it a few times and wondered why my door wouldn't open.

Cheers.

Ive tried it all. It worked every time for over a week then stopped. I can usually get it to work once a day now. I have an appointment tomorrow.

Make sure you don't have your phone in the same pocket as your key fob. They can interfere with each other.

This morning I go out to my car and it works like its supposed to. I get to the dealer and service tech gets it to work on all 4 handles. She says they will still take a look and I showed her a video of it not working. She goes to put a tag on my rearview mirror and it doesn't work. (Thankfully it happened bc I felt like a crazy person.)

The ticket says "updated software, removed rear door panel and checked antenna-no fault, and removed knee airbag to check connector at the CEM and found that connector FO was not fully seated. Installed connector and faults resolved.

It worked the rest of the day. :)

You’re not alone. This is my second XC40 T5 R-Design, I traded in the 2019 for a 2021. I’ve been having issues with my fob not unlocking the doors or tailgate and the tailgate close/lock not working while my fob is in my tiny little purse held right next to it. I didn’t have this issue with the 2019 and I’m glad it’s not just me. I’ll be contacting my service department.

Mine has been working ever since the repair. I am hoping this is the final fix for it.

its happend to me, you need to keep the key away from your mobile phone or any other object that has magnets, i would recomend just to have the key in your pocket and nothing else, give it a try
I always have my car keys and phone in the same pocket and never had an issue.

It’s definitely not the key to close to phone. It does this if I don’t have the phone on me. Also it doesn’t matter how slowly I try to open the door either. I can place my fingers behind the handle without pulling and it won’t unlock. I can hold my thumb on the handle and it won’t work either.
It’s weird bc it’s sporadic. It may work all day then stop working for 2 days then start working again.
I made a video and will take it back to the dealership. link to video below.
I have a XC60 R-Design 2018 with the same issue... Any news to fix this problem? For me it doesn"t work every time it's cold and humid... near freezing temperature and wet.
Volvo finally Was able to replicate it. Turns out my back passenger handle was faulty and if one of them doesn’t work correctly the rest can have issues. The replaced that handle and it’s been working fine. It took several trips to Volvo for them to figure it out.

What is connector FO? Could you please share a photo?
