But it only works for certain "years" and the install involves splicing into some wires.

We looked into this for my wife's 2016 XC90, but in the end, we decided to just pay the $200 because we like that the "On Call" service also includes the "SOS" function in case of an emergency, as well as "over the air" updates for apps.. you lose that if you let your On-Call subscription expire..

I also found that if I called Volvo Customer Support, or chatted with them in the App, they would sometimes provide a discount just for asking.. or even try for a multi-year discount...
