Our XC40 has a heat pump and was held at port until early May. It’s getting warmer here in the US midwest and the a/c has been erratic. Spoke with service dept and they are aware of a problem due to a ‘valve sensor plunger’. Of course it’s on back order
Do you have a clicking noise when the issue occurs?. Blend door actuator issues can cause intermittent AC issues. It can be temporarily fixed by adjusting the temperature or turning the AC off and then on.
A quick check of Volvo service bulletins does not mention a valve sensor plunger as an AC issue....but I may be wrong.
